Trusted Tester Program Overview

Learn about the program and how to participate.

When you become a trusted tester, you’ll test Google Fiber products and services before they officially launch (confidentially, of course). We’ll also ask for your critical feedback to identify any improvements we can make before that product or service goes out into the world.

Here’s how our trusted tester program works.

Programs typically run for a short period of time (typically 1-4 months) and only include a subset of customers who have opted in to be part of the program.

At any given time, there could be one or multiple trusted tester programs running and you could potentially be part of one or more of these programs.

Trusted testers click to accept the trusted tester agreement to participate and can opt out of specific tests or the overall program at any time.

Here’s how you can become a trusted tester.

Sign up for the trusted tester program, answering a series of questions that help us figure out which products and services you’d be perfect for testing. We’ll contact you via email every time there’s something new to test that you qualify for and, as long as you’re still signed up, you can choose whether or not to participate in that test.

Only certain portions of the trusted tester program are invited to a specific test of a product or service at a time. Most products and services are not announced publicly and even your invitation to participate in a test, sent via email, is confidential. You can choose not to participate in any test—or opt out of the program—at any time.

Program FAQs

What is the trusted tester program?
The Google Fiber trusted tester program allows selected Google Fiber customers to test new products and features before they are available to the general public.

Who is eligible for the trusted tester program?
All customers can sign up for the trusted tester program. Different tests will have different selection criteria related to their location and network setup. If a customer is selected to participate, they will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before starting the test and agree to provide feedback on a regular basis.

What do you get for being a trusted tester?
The biggest reward for being a trusted tester is the chance to try out the latest products and features from Google Fiber. Some tests may have additional compensation.

How do people sign up to be a trusted tester?
Customers can sign up here.

Do you have to be an existing customer to be a trusted tester?
You have to sign up for Google Fiber service in order to be a trusted tester. However, you could be a new customer and qualify for some tests.

Will everyone who signs up be chosen for the test?
No, we only need a small group of testers for each project, so not everyone will get to participate in this test.

What if I change my mind/want to opt out?
You can opt out at any time here. Opt outs are generally processed the same day.

I signed up for the trusted tester program prior to 2019. Do I have to sign up again?
Since we’re relaunching the program, we’re asking everyone to sign up again here to ensure that those customers who want to be testers now are included in the group.

This is exciting stuff! What can I share with my friends, family and the world?
Trusted testers will be asked to file a non-disclosure agreement and specific tests may come with additional confidentiality requirements for a specific amount of time, as the goal of these tests are to allow us to make the product or feature the best it can be before it’s available to everyone thanks to real-time tester feedback. However, once the non-disclosure timeframe is over, testers may be able to share their experiences with their friends, family, and everyone.

Can I change my email and still be part of it?

To update your trusted tester program details please do the following:

     a. Submit the opt out form listing your previous email address.
     b. Submit a new opt in form using your new email address associated with your Google Fiber account.

Your information will be updated within one business day.

If I move, can I still be part of it?
Yes but we need your help to make sure we have your correct information associated with the trusted tester program.

To update your trusted tester program details please do the following:

     a. Submit the opt out form listing your previous physical address (and new email address associated with your
         Google Fiber account, if applicable).

     b. Submit a new opt in form using your new physical address (and email address associated with Google Fiber,

If I cancel, can I still be part of it?
Only active Google Fiber customers are eligible to be part of the trusted tester program. Your trusted tester membership will be cancelled as soon as you cancel your Google Fiber account.

I want to transfer my Google Fiber account to my roommate/partner/friend etc. What will happen to my trusted tester program membership?
Due to the confidentiality requirements of our testing program, only Google Fiber account owners are eligible to participate in the trusted tester program. If you transfer your account to someone else, that other person will have to apply to the trusted tester program on their own.

Are there any special steps required to opting out from the trusted tester program?
No. Simply submit an opt out form using the same information you used to sign up using the information associated with your Google Fiber account.
