Hi, I have samsung q6FN-series TV connected to Denon X4500H receiver which is routing different 4k devices such as xbox one and Chromecast Google TV. HDMI CEC is not workin properly with chromecast with google tv and works only sometimes. I cannot control chromecast with TV remote. XBX works perfectly. I have restarted everything and all firmwares are most recent ones. Any remedies?

Hello Jupe:  I think I just posted a very similar problem, but I do not know what CEC is.  I have a Vizio TV connected to a Denon receiver so that the sound comes out of some speakers.  My goal was to be able to watch Thursday Night Football.  So I bought Google Chromecast with live tv and plugged it into one of my several available HDMI ports and started pushing buttons on my remotes trying to find the input screen .  None of my remote buttons brought up the input screen so nothing happened.  I had an epiphany and went to the back of my TV and and manually pushed the input button and was able to get an input screen to show up, register my Amazon Prime and watch the game.  But I cannot access an input screen from the Chromecast remote either, so I have to go to the back of my TV and manually push the input button to bring up that screen and then use the volume buttons on the back of my TV to toggle to the next HDMI input for regular TV.  It's inconvenient and cannot be right.  Maybe somebody will reply to your issue and it will solve mine as well.  Very frustrating that Google does not have customer service to explain how to do all this.

Hey there Jupe,

I apologize for the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that CEC issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Is the Chromecast's firmware up-to-date?
  • Have you tried swapping around the HDMI port that the Chromecast is plugged into?
  • Have you tried plugging the Chromecast directly into the TV's HDMI port?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
