Meet Cali, an Austin-based associate analyst on Google’s finance team. Outside of her main role, Cali also serves as a co-lead for the Asian Googler Network (AGN). “I was first introduced to AGN during my onboarding orientation,” she explained. “I decided to join AGN to find friends, community service opportunities, and mentors within the AAPI community. Now as a leader in the organization, I’m on a mission to show young people from the community that their aspirations are possible.” When asked for any career advice, Cali shared some of the lessons she’s learned: “First, develop your communication skills. Ideas only come alive when you’re able to speak about them to others. By learning how to clearly articulate your ideas and advocate for yourself, you give yourself the opportunity to be seen and heard. And second, step outside your comfort zone. In the workplace, I always encourage taking on challenging assignments or taking on leadership roles — even if it feels uncomfortable at first.” Our favorite piece of advice from Cali? “Be authentic, embrace your identity, and lead in a way that feels genuine to you.” Happy #APAHM, and thank you for contributions to #lifeatgoogle!
