Chromecast does not connect, or looses connection to WIFI with hidden SSID

I have connected Chromecast to my WIFI with hidden SSID. However, in a day or two it lost connection to the network. This is the 4th time i have to factory rest my Chromecast and start again. When i tried to recconnect, it id not connect at all to wifi with hidden SSID.
Once i made SSID public from my router settings - all went fine. it connected.

But in general, i experience a lot of connectivity issues with Chromecast.
It would be much appreciated if Google would fix this finally.

For comparison, i also have fire stick - it never dropped off once. It is connected very stable to hidden wifi and to any wifi.
It seems Amazon does a better job at these things.

Dear Google - are you telling us that we should actually go and buy better done amazon devices? Are you recommending that by making your devices not work well?

And - are amazon engineers better than the google engineers... hm... well...

Please fix this chromecast issues - its not that hard.

Hi ddimic,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A Chromecast device is intended to work on a secured, non-complex home Wi-Fi (WLAN) type of network. Hiding the SSID makes it already different from the norms, but it’s understandable because some users prefer it security-wise. Ideally, your Chromecast device would wait for the SSID broadcast in order for it to connect, and it stays connected even after hiding the SSID, but as soon as the connection is refreshed, it may not reconnect as the SSID is not visible.

Some users use this approach: they hide the SSID from the start, and instead of selecting visible networks among the choices, they manually add the credentials (SSID, passphrase, security type, etc.). You can try it and let us know how it goes.

We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi I don't  know if I have the same issue, in another post I read the router settings you have to change but the problem persist, and I'm not sure how to change the hidden SSDI,  while the router is turned off, Chromecast device has signal but once Is conected to my WiFi it disappears, there could be another way to solve that

Hi Lindamgt,

Thanks for posting here. I just want to confirm if your concern is exactly the same as it says in the title. Do you have a working Chromecast device that is connected to a home Wi-Fi network that loses the connection a few hours after you switch off the Wi-Fi name’s broadcast?

If your concern is different, kindly elaborate, or if possible, create a new thread and give it a definitive title that would attract other users who are willing to help. It’s hard if your question or concern is buried in an unrelated thread, since replies and answers would focus more on what was specified in the title. Please let us know.

Sincerely,

Kimy
