We're excited to introduce some of the most highly-requested camera features to Google Home for web. These updates include a full camera experience for Nest cameras and doorbells with event and timeline history, clip downloads, the ability to create custom clips to download and share, and picture in picture support for live camera views. With this more full featured camera experience we are graduating Google Home for web to general availability and also adding the ability to opt-in to Public Preview so you can try new features early, on the web as well.

Your camera history. Playing in a browser near you.
Over the next few days, we'll be introducing more camera features on home.google.com. With Google Home for web, you can stay informed even after an event happens and take advantage of larger screens and an experience optimized for a keyboard and mouse. Use your browser to explore your camera's history to see when your dog walker came by or when a package was delivered. Review your history with the new event and timeline views, search for a specific date and time, and download clips to share your favorite moments. Don't forget to subscribe to Nest Aware Plus for 24/7 video history playback on the web.
Event and timeline history will be rolling out to users over the next few weeks and will work with Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen), Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery), Nest Cam with Floodlight, Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), Nest Doorbell (battery), and Nest Cam Indoor (1st gen) and Nest Cam Outdoor (1st gen) once transferred to the Home app.
Create custom clips from your video history on the web and in the Google Home app
Capture and share important moments with custom clips. Customize the duration of a clip before you download it from your camera's video history. On the web, simply select the start time and adjust the clip by sliding the editor to your desired length. Also starting to roll out this week in the Home app, you can trim an existing event video clip by simply picking a start time and selecting the clip length from a set of options. If you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription with 24/7 video history, you can download clips from any part of your video history using the same steps.

Public Preview Updates
Changes to Public Preview and Google Home for web
Google Home for web will now support a version of Public Preview so you can try features before they are more broadly available and you can opt in using the Google Home app or by clicking the preview icon in the top right of your browser.
Features to try in Public Preview:
- Script Editor for Home automation - When you join you can go to home.google.com to see, create, delete, or deactivate scripted automations for your home. If you've been creating automations with the Script Editor and Help me script features, you'll need to join Public Preview to continue to use these features.
- Garage door detection for Nest Aware subscribers1 - Ever leave home and wonder if you closed the garage? Compatible wired Nest Cams can now notify you if you forgot to close your garage, no additional hardware or sensors required. We’ve expanded our advanced AI-powered image detection and improved built-in on-device intelligence to detect when your garage door is opened or left open. Garage door detection is available now as part of Public Preview in the Google Home app. Learn more here.
- Expanded support for first generation Nest Cams - If you own a first generation Nest Cam Indoor or Nest Cam Outdoor, you can transfer your device to the Google Home app to try our new camera history experience. You’ll be able to review your camera history with event list and timeline views in both the app and on Google Home for web2. 1 Garage door detection is in Public Preview and available in the Google Home app for the US and Canada to users that have a Nest Aware subscription and own a Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen) or a Nest Cam (battery) when wired for power.
2 Camera history on the web prior to 3/7/24 may not include audio in events for the first generation Nest Cam Indoor and first generation Nest Cam Outdoor. Events after 3/7/24 will include recorded audio.
